Poems Written During the Civil War and the Protectorate 1642-1658

The English poet John Milton supported the Parliamentarian side during the English Civil War and publicly defended the execution of King Charles I. He held the post of Secretary for Foreign Tongues in the government of Oliver Cromwell's Commonwealth.
